Wu Yi Tea Harvesting Process

The way tea is harvested is actually very important to the taste and quality of the tea itself. Wu-yi tea is relatively difficult to grown and harvest.
WuYi tea is grown near in the Mt. Wu Yi Shan region, which is one the most fertile areas in China. This is where genuine, authentic wu-yi tea comes from. The harvesting of the tea is a very detailed process; the workers take great care and pay close attention during every step of the harvesting and growing of the tea.
When wu yi tea is picked, each unite has one bud and three leaves. It’s harvested in the morning and is exposed to the sun to let dry. After drying, they’re shaken gently in bamboo baskets. They’re they laid out on drying mats for one to two days. After drying, they’re moved indoors where they can ferment. This is one of the most important parts of creating the tea.
Most suppliers of wu yi tea then clean the leaves by hand and recheck the tea to make sure the proses was done properly. This careful, delicate process results in a tea that is of the highest quality.
